Quick recap

The meeting focused on reviewing the club’s current status and upcoming events. LCA members reviewed the new Angler of the Year point system proposed by Alan, which tracks place points, big fish points, and weight-based points, though they decided to maintain manual tracking rather than incorporating it into the existing app. The committee confirmed lake selections for upcoming tournaments through August, including Lanier for May, Weiss for June, LakeNottely@Poteet Creek for July, and Logan Martin for August. They also discussed logistics for the upcoming two-day Watts Bar tournament, including accommodation arrangements and food options.

Action items:

  • Alan: Transfer Venmo payments to the club account once all dues are received; notify LCA members via text if/when payments are received or still outstanding.
  • Alan and Danny: Determine and settle any outstanding “big fish” payouts from last season and communicate the final amounts/actions to LCA members.
  • Danny: Investigate if Alan’s Angler of the Year points spreadsheet can be embedded or updated on the website to streamline results tracking.
  • Hunter: Send out request for the two-day Watts Bar tournament pairings.
  • Danny: Double check with the marina/cabin contact about late check-in procedures for Watts Bar and communicate to LCA members.
  • Danny: Look up and review Weiss Lake permit requirements and communicate to LCA members if any action is needed for the upcoming tournament.

Summary

Outstanding Payments and Tournament Fees

LCA members emphasized the importance of enforcing the rule whereby a member that does not pay their dues on time will be disqualified for any upcoming tournaments and after 90 days, will no longer be a LCA member

Tournament Payment and Arrangements

LCA members discussed payment issues and tournament arrangements. They agreed to give one final follow-up communication by Saturday regarding outstanding payments, after which they would move forward with available participants. The treasurer reported current funds of around $750, with $1,000 in deposits pending. LCA members also addressed outstanding payouts from the previous season, particularly regarding big fish winnings, and agreed to recognizwe Dean for his Angler of the Year title. Alan and Danny were tasked with determining the exact amount owed to Danny for big fish winnings from the 2025 season.

Tournament Performance Point System

The team discussed a new point system for tracking tournament performance, which was presented by Alan. The system awards points based on placement (200 points for first place, decreasing to 50 points for eighth place), participation (50 points for zero weight), and big fish (50 points). While the system works well as a spreadsheet, it cannot be directly incorporated into the existing app due to technical limitations in detailed tracking capabilities. The team agreed to review the system further, with Drew needing to see the details after the meeting.

Tournament Points Management Strategy

The team discussed managing tournament points and standings. Alan explained his current manual process for tracking points in a spreadsheet, which he prefers to keep rather than integrating it into the app. Danny suggested posting the AOY points chart monthly, while Dean emphasized avoiding unnecessary manual work. LCA members agreed to run points and weights parallel on both the website and app for now, with Danny handling the website updates while exploring potential app integration for future consideration.

Watts Bar Trip Planning Meeting

LCA members discussed arrangements for an upcoming two-day trip to Watts Bar. Andy confirmed dining options including country cafes and barbecue places nearby, with most participants planning to handle breakfast and lunch on their own. LCA members clarified cabin assignments, with Drew, Dean, Hunter, and Alan in floating cabins, and Andy and Danny in a shared room. Drew inquired about late check-in arrangements, and Andy confirmed they could likely work something out as a group, though he advised being careful with cabin keys.  Alan also indicated that he had reserved an extra room for Norm and/or Brad.

Tournament Location Selection Committee

The tournament committee, led by Dean, proposed lake locations for upcoming tournaments: Lanier for May, Weiss for June, Lake Nottely @Poteet Creek Campground (to be determined) for July, and Logan Martin in Lincoln County for August. LCA members discussed potential permit requirements at Weiss, though they noted that catch-and-release tournaments might be exempt from these requirements. The proposed locations were accepted without a formal vote, as the committee was tasked with making the selection.
