Membership and Tournament Planning Updates
Attendees discussed several key topics, including membership dues, tournament scheduling, and accommodation options for future events. Andy announced that membership dues would be $50, payable annually before the end of December. We also decided to standardize tournament end times to 3 PM Eastern Georgia time. Attendees explored alternative accommodation options for tournaments, with John suggesting a property in Guntersville that could accommodate multiple boats and fishermen. Andy mentioned looking into VRBO and Airbnb options near Watts Bar, noting that while boat slips might be limited, the cost could be comparable to current accommodations.
Watts Bar Tournament Planning Meeting
Attendees decided to hold their tournament at Watts Bar in April, with fishing dates set for April 15-16. ATTENDEES agreed to focus on Thursday and Friday night accommodations to keep costs down, with members able to arrive earlier if they wish. Andy will research and email accommodation options to the club, including Piney Point Resort and VRBO/Airbnb listings. Attendees also discussed their current bank balance of $1,653.41 and agreed to collect membership fees by January 1st.
Annual Tournament Location Rotation Plan
Attendees discussed tournament locations for the upcoming year, focusing on lakes within a reasonable driving distance to maximize participation. ATTENDEES agreed to rotate between Carter’s, Allatoona, and Lanier, with specific months assigned: Carter’s in January, Allatoona in February, and Lanier in March. Alan suggested having a structured annual plan to make it easier for new members to join and for current members to plan ahead. Attendees also discussed the benefits of staying close to home, citing better fishing conditions and safety concerns with long drives.
LCA Summer Tournament Planning
Attendees discussed fishing locations and boat traffic concerns, particularly for lakes near Atlanta. ATTENDEES agreed to continue fishing at Lanier, Altoona, and other nearby lakes in January through March, but expressed concerns about summer boat traffic. Hunter was tasked with gathering input from club members to make recommendations for May through December fishing locations, focusing on lakes with easier access compared to those on the east side of Atlanta.
Tournament Pairing and Communication Improvements
Attendees discussed tournament logistics, particularly focusing on pairing arrangements and addressing issues with last-minute changes. Andy emphasized the need for better communication regarding fishing commitments and suggested prioritizing more reliable club members when pairing boaters and co-anglers. Hunter confirmed he would handle the upcoming tournament pairings, and Attendees agreed to find a boater for Todd, who was left out due to a last-minute cancellation. ATTENDEES also considered adjusting the pairing process to favor more committed members in the future.
Fishing Tournament Results and Pairings
The meeting discussed the results of a fishing tournament, where McCord and Elder won first place with 13.51 pounds, followed by Howard in second with 11.68 pounds and a big fish of 3.08. The tournament director announced the pairings for the next event at Allatoona, with Howard and Shields in Boat 1, McCord and Robinson in Boat 2, Buckner and Tutterrow in Boat 3, and Peter and Lepchitz in Boat 4. Alan mentioned he might try to get Dinser to bring his boat and attend the tournament. Attendees clarified that LCA members can invite guest anglers if they don’t have a partner, with at least one LCA member required in the boat.
Fishing Tournament Schedule Planning
Attendees discussed upcoming fishing tournaments, with January’s tournament confirmed for the 17th at Carter’s Dam. ATTENDEES reviewed their tournament schedule for the year, including locations like Allatoona, Lanier, and Watts Bar for the 2-day tournament, with May 21st set for another Lanier event. Attendees agreed to finalize the 2-day tournament location via email. ATTENDEES also briefly discussed the status of Belt Ferry dock, which was expected to be out of the water by their next meeting.
